THE SOIL ASSOCIATION

  Veg Quality

All our produce meets the high standards of the Soil Association in production.
Sometimes, this means that the produce is less uniform in size, shape or colour compared to much of the ‘grade A’ chemically controlled supermarket veg.

We wash most produce, as required, before we put it in the boxes. However, you may still find some soil particles especially on delicate salad items and root crops. We recommend you wash all veggies before use.

Occasionally rapid wetting and drying, due to weather conditions, will cause skins and leaves of some produce to split.
We take care to check crops for little beasties when harvesting.

However they are cunning at hiding so you may come across the occasional slug or caterpillar. This shows how fresh your veg is and that it hasn’t been sprayed with harmful chemicals!
